About
I am the Mentor of Learning & Teaching at Shore School, North Sydney. Last year I attended the International Conference of Critical Thinking at Berkeley and the Harvard Graduate School of Education’s Project Zero Summer Institute in Boston. I have trekked in the Himalayas, ridden a camel across Wadi Rum, cycled the world’s most dangerous road in Bolivia, fallen down a volcano (the outside) in Guatemala, and been held up at gunpoint in Syria. I am particularly interested in building the capacity of teachers to function as professional learning communities, and focusing on pedagogic practice that openly emphasises learners’ abilities to understand their own thinking and learning. I have been been influenced by the work of David Perkins at Harvard and John Abbott at the 21st Century Learning Initiative.
